New project!

AgriCascade - Cascading recycling of organic N-sources with next-generation biochar fertilizer forNorwegian agriculture

AGRICASCADE will support Norwegian biobased industries in developing innovative, climate-smart fertilizers from circular agricultural waste and forest resources. Within the green transition, AGRICASCADE will propose innovative value chains that are climate-smart and sustainable, especially in terms of GHG emission, environmental impact, and circularity of processes.

Key areas include: 1) “increased Norwegian foodsecurity” through the development of a next-generation fertilizer, and 2) “use of forest and wood”, as pyrolyses wood and forest products will constitute the bulk of the fertilizer product.

The project aims to reduce GHG emissions, enhance soilcarbon storage with biochar, and promote healthier ecosystems. AGRICASCADE collaborates internationally with leading US research groups and integrates cross-disciplinary expertise in agricultural and environmental technologies.Building on previous initiatives like CARBO-FERTIL,the project represents a vital step toward sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture
